The Brief
Wise Dog Creations
Ok, let’s be completely upfront, Julie is my partner. That said the brief remains the same as a paying client, in fact you could say she’s a tougher client because she pushes harder than a normal fee paying client might.
During the lockdowns in the UK, Julie wanted to use her creative skills and so set about breathing new life into vintage furniture. Gin cabinets are all the range, taking a mid-century corner unit and turning into a piece of furniture that would grace any home gave Julie great satisfaction.
To complement the amazing pieces, the key was to produce images that would reflect the workmanship that Julie puts into each piece. Little details make a huge difference.
Clearly we hit the right note with the images and the furniture because she couldn't keep up with demand. Several customers commissioned Julie to upcycle furniture that they had home, including a whole bedroom suite and desk that had been and-made by a client’s father.
As well as capturing the finished images we felt it was important to show the before, also to show Julie at work, giving an idea of the level of effort she puts into each piece. It was really important to make sure that the colours were truly represented. Customers are not happy to purchasing a blue cabinet only to find it’s green when they get it delivered.
The images have been used on Julie’s Facebook page and for those lucky Nelsonians, Julie has continued were she left off after leaving the UK, you can now purchase her amazing work locally.
